Prem Kaur

Director of Yoga Teacher Training at Jai Yoga

Prem Kaur is passionate about sharing the gifts of yoga through conveying the sacred messages of yoga philosophy.

Yoga asana came into Prem Kaur’s life for the first time when she was 6 years old, as she observed her parents following a yoga sequence from a weathered old notebook. Yoga asana practice quickly became a Sunday family ritual. Soon after, every Sunday Prem Kaur and her family would engage in “Satsang” (spiritual discourse) where they would discuss topics about Yoga Philosophy and history. Unbeknownst to her, these Sunday family rituals would shape Prem’s world forever.

Prem has completed over 750 hours of teacher training, deepening her knowledge about Tantric and Vedic philosophy. She has accumulated over 2500 hours of teaching experience, where in her classes you are invited to move your body intuitively as your journey within the depths of self, learning about the beauty and power that is uniquely YOU.

Prem is excited to share her knowledge of yoga philosophy, inspiring students to look inward to take reign of their mind and direct it towards a higher goal and purpose.

Prem loves teaching deep Hatha practices with the focus on slow and intentional movement, leading to a powerful yet moving experience for everyone involved. Prem enjoys facilitating rituals with meditation and is also a certified restorative yoga instructor.

Jai Singh

Lead Teacher Trainer

Yoga for Jai has always been a way of life. Living in India for a majority of his life, Jai practiced yoga everyday for as long as he can remember. In India, yoga is not just practiced, but it is lived. Yoga knowledge and practices are passed down from generation to generation. This was certainly the case for Jai, as he remembers his grandparents planting the seed of his yogic discipline by bringing him and his family every morning to the local Ashram for 3am meditation practices.

Previously Jai was a practicing dentist by profession, but in 2018 he left his medical career to share his ancestral knowledge to inspire others to live their yoga, not just practice it. Jai is excited to share his ancestral knowledge from India on a deeper level with students who are embarking their journey of yoga teacher training with Jai Yoga Studio.

From his medical training and previous career in working within the medical field, Jai specializes in teaching anatomy, physiology and biomechanics within yoga teacher trainings at Jai Yoga.

Jai has completed over 520 hours of teacher training, with over 4000 hours of teaching experience.

Jai enjoys teaching powerful Vinyasa flows and Hatha classes to the public, along with guiding restorative yin with a sound bath from his Rav Vast drum.

M.K. Anand

Pranayama, Mantra & Philosophy Teacher Trainer

For M.K. Anand life has been all about managing energy - life's most valuable resource. Both as a breathwork and meditation teacher and as a clean energy engineer, he strives to seek balance by harnessing what is life supporting.

Growing up in the Middle East, away from the land of his parents birth- India,  he watched his father tap into ancient knowledge and transform his energy levels with a regular 5 am yoga asana practice. He watched his mother lead the family to vedanta and yoga philosophy lectures while balancing shifts at the hospital. Vacations were spent in silent meditation retreats, trips to ashrams and satsangs. He grew up learning mantras, asanas and breathwork from childhood not knowing they would become the pillars of his practice later on in life.

Leaving his home to come to Canada alone at 17 for university, he quickly realized how vital the tools of yoga, meditation and breathwork are to maintain a balanced life. During this time he got the opportunity to spend time with and study under the esteemed living Master Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar the founder of the Art of Living Yoga Lineage. Using powerful breathwork techniques like Sudarshan Kriya that he learned when he was 12 years old, he watched his personality change back to the very essence of his name - bliss and joy.

Inspired by the benefits he reaped from the breathwork meditation techniques he learned as a student, after graduating as a mechanical engineer, he resolved to spend his time sharing these techniques with his fellow university students, a community notorious for being highly stressed. He travelled all over south west Ontario as a travelling monk organizing meditation programs at universities and being grateful for the kindness of the communities who hosted him. The joy at watching students' stress melt and the smile return to their faces solidified a deep desire to always have sharing yogic knowledge be a part of his life.

M.K. underwent the rigorous teacher training program over over 1000 hrs to become a breathwork and meditation teacher with the Art of Living Foundation and has been sharing its transformative workshops for over 14 years in over 10 cities. He has organized and facilitated numerous workshops on the ancient knowledge of Bhagavad Gita, Ashtavakra Gita, Bhakti Yoga Sutras and Patanjali Yoga Sutras through the commentary of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Over the years, his affinity for Kirtan and Satsang flowered into adapting instruments like the electric guitar, native american flute, rav vast and the djembe to ancient mantras.

M.K. is 200 hour Yoga Alliance certified with the renowned Sri Sri Yoga school in India and is a certified Yin Instructor. Together with his wife Tanushree Malaviya, he is a Director of Santani Ayurveda striving to bring health and harmony to the Lower Mainland using the ancient knowledge of Ayurveda - the Indigenous medical science of India.
