Why did we start Moon Club?
The lives of modern women is so different to the world of our ancestral mothers, in that we are so far removed from nature.
Plants are force-bloomed in greenhouses, food is grown for us, and air-conditioning and central heating shelter us from the elements of nature. Where our ancestral mothers left footsteps in the earth, we walk without a trace on cement pathways. These days, we do not live in nature…we just visit it.
However, like our ancestral mothers, we can always accept the invitation to turn within our bodies to experience our deep connection with nature. Our monthly menstrual cycle shows us the way.
The modern world has taught us that menstruation is a taboo, a burden, even a “curse.” Yet it is far from it - menstruation asks us to be quiet, reflective, creative for a period of time. A period is a time for us to honour the miracle of our body’s potential for renewal. Moon Club is the perfect way to honour your body with specialized yoga for periods.
What is Moon Club?
In yoga, the menstrual cycle is honoured. Our menstrual cycle resonates the cycle of the moon’s journey from dark to full. It represents the cyclic nature of life.
Moon Club is a private virtual restorative yoga class, that assists the body in releasing menstrual flow, reducing fatigue and moderating hormonal shifts. Some find it helpful to do a single Moon Club class a day before their flow begins, or even opt-in to do a series of 5 or 7 private classes throughout their menstrual flow.
Regardless, you have the power to decide how you want Moon Club to work for you. We are always here to support you.

MOON CLUB FAQ
Q: What can I expect to do during the Moon Club private class?
A: Classes will be held virtually. A link will be emailed to you before your class. Sign in for the virtual class early, so that Prem Kaur can help you get set up for your class with props and go through any questions you have. A Moon Club class lasts 60 minutes and consists of a maximum of six restorative yoga poses, designed to open the abdomen and alleviate cramps and lower back discomfort.
Q: What props do I need for Moon Club?
A: Props will be needed during this class to ensure that you are comfortable and relaxed throughout the 60 minutes. We recommend the following props:
A yoga mat
2 blankets
1 hand towel
2 blocks / pillow cushions
1 strap
You can purchase props from our online store, which is currently offering curb side pick-up.
Q: Can someone who has never done yoga before do the restorative yoga poses offered in Moon Club?
A: Yes. You do not need to have any yoga experience to try Moon Club.
Q: What if I am really stiff? (and crampy 😩)
A: No problem! Restorative yoga supports you where ever you are with blocks, blankets, bolsters, pillows and any other prop you need to be comfortable enough to relax into the pose. In Moon Club, our motto is “less is more,” which means the less “effort” you put into each pose, the better!
Q: How will Moon Club help me during my period?
A: Moon Club classes will assist your body in releasing the menstrual flow, reducing fatigue and moderating hormonal shifts. We will work together to relax your abdomen, which will alleviate your cramps and lower back discomfort.
Q: What is PMS?
A: Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is a collection of symptoms that usually begin a few days before the beginning of menstruation and can remain through the first day or two of blood flow. While the reason behind PMS remains unclear, it is generally believed to be related to the hormonal changes that lead towards menstruation. PMS symptoms may range from mildly discomforting to severe in intensity, which include any or all of the following:
Swelling and tenderness of the breasts
Back pain
Water retention
Pelvic pain
Food cravings
Increased appetite
Irritability
Fatigue
Headaches
Moodiness
Nervousness
Depression.
Q: Will Moon Club help me with PMS?
A: If you experience PMS, the Moon Club private 1-on-1 classes can help you in two ways. First of all, it can decrease your physical discomfort. In Moon Club, you will practice poses that will gently open your belly and hips that will help to ease your cramps. Stretches to the lower back may help with constipation and back pain. Secondly, practicing deep relaxation can help to release the tension associated with PMS, and may give you a little insight as to what you are feeling in your body and mind.
Q: How can Moon Club help with endometriosis?
A: The restorative yoga poses used in Moon Club cannot cure endometriosis. But if you have it, Moon Club can help you breathe and relax to relieve muscle spasm and pelvic congestion. Moon Club helps to open and relax your uterus, abdomen, and lower back, which may have tightened in response to chronic pain.
Q: I have an irregular cycle, how can Moon Club help me?
A: When our periods become irregular, our body feels out of balance and especially vulnerable. If your menstruation is irregular, practice Moon Club at least once a week along with a daily yoga practice.
